TRAINING OVERVIEW In our everyday work with people who are having difficulty adjusting in their lives, we encounter crisis situations. As Agents of Change we have many unique opportunities to assist our clients to handle situations in a new and more prosocial manner. The use of de-escalation techniques prevents a crisis from deteriorating to the point where physical force is necessary to prevent physical and mental harm to the client or others. Crisis Intervention Training offers the tools to respond more safely and compassionately to clients within a situation that they perceive is out of control. Participants will increase their awareness of these tools to facilitate a positive change in the client’s behavior, thinking and consequences with respect to crisis situations.
