Mission
The Ohio Community Corrections Association (OCCA) offers to member community correction service providers the opportunity for advocacy and professional development, which enhances the ability to reduce repeat criminal offending.
Vision
OCCA believes:
- Addiction is a public health issue.
- Behavioral treatment should be fully funded.
- Mass incarceration is a failure leading to worse outcomes at great taxpayer expense.
- Least restrictive, evidence-based approaches are better and cost taxpayers less.
- Lower level offenses are better addressed using community based sanctions.
- Individuals with criminal justice involvement need access to sustainable employment and safe, affordable housing to successfully reeintegrate into local communities.
