OCCA Members Tour Connect Housing Blocks

OCCA members recently donned hard hats for a tour of the Connect Housing Blocks, a modular housing manufacturing facility in Columbus.  Connect Housing Blocks is provding an innovative solution to Ohio's housing crisis by constructing modular units that can be "stacked" to form apartment buildings.   By prefabricating the housing units in its manufacturing facility, Connect Housing Blocks is able to cut both construction time and costs significantly.  Many of the workers engaged in the manufacturing process have little or no construction experience, but the manufacturing process is set up so that new workers  can quickly enter the work force, beginning with basic tasks and learning how to do more complicated tasks as they go.  OCCA members touring the facility learned about the new 52-unit building, Connect Housing Blocks is  building for Alvis' Amethyst program in Columbus. When completed the project will house women who are navigating substance use recovery and their children.
