OCCA Advocacy Day 2025: Promoting Second Chances Across Ohio

On March 26, 2025, the Ohio Community Corrections Association (OCCA) hosted its annual Advocacy Day at the Ohio Statehouse. Our members held over 50 meetings with legislators to highlight the vital work being done by halfway houses and community-based correctional facilities (CBCFs) across the state.

These conversations focused on the essential role community corrections plays in reducing recidivism, enhancing public safety, and supporting individuals on their path to successful reintegration. OCCA members stand united in our commitment to advancing smart public policy that strengthens communities and creates meaningful second chances for those we serve.

The day concluded with an evening reception, bringing together legislators and key stakeholders to continue the conversation in a more informal setting. It was a valuable opportunity to build relationships, share success stories, and reinforce the impact of community corrections throughout Ohio.
